PURPOSE : A rare earth magnet and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to obtain a sufficient water-resistance by including a protective layer having a uniform thickness.CONSTITUTION : A rare earth magnet(1) includes a magnetic body and a protective layer(4). The magnetic body includes rare earth element, and is formed by a powder metallurgical method. A zinc compound soluble in an alkaline solution is added to an alkali silicate aqueous solution. A mixture is agitated more than 24 hours. A treatment solution is prepared, is attached on a surface of the magnet body, and is hardened. The protective layer is formed on the surface of the magnet body. Thickness of the protective layer is 0.01 ~ 10um.© KIPO 2009 |
