A novel ultraviolet emission long-persistence phosphor that emits ultraviolet rays as an excitation source of phosphor in long persistent form and, in combination with a phosphor not exhibiting long persistence, realizes white or multicolor afterglow. There is provided an ultraviolet emission long-persistence phosphor comprising X3Z2Si6O18 (X is an alkaline earth metal element and Z a rare earth metal element) doped with Ce3+. Preferably, the alkaline earth metal element is Sr, and the rare earth metal element is La. Preferably, the doping is performed so that the concentration of Ce3+ is in the range of 0.5 to 50 mol%. |
