Disclosed are a photostimulable phosphor precursor and a photostimulable phosphor, each of which is characterized by comprising a moisture-resistant substance represented by the general formula (1) and a rare-earth-activated barium fluoroiodide photostimulable phosphor precursor represented by the general formula (2) and coated with the moisture-resistant substance. General formula (1) : (Ba1-xM2x)F1-aX1+a : yM1, zLn General formula (2) : (Ba1-xM2x)FI : yM1, zLn wherein M2 represents an alkali earth metalatom selected from Mg, Ca, Sr, Zn and Cd; M1 represents an alkali metal atom selected from Li, Na, K, Rb and Cs; X represents a halogen atom selected from F, Cl and Br; Ln represents a rare earth metal atom selected from Ce, Pr, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Tm, Dy, Ho, Nd, Er and Yb; and x, y, z and a represent numeric values respectively falling within the ranges represented by the following formulae 0≤x<0.5, 0≤y≤0.05, 0≤z≤0.2, and -0.5≤a≤0.5. |
