PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To widen applications of a discharge lamp through improvement on problems that an electrode among others gets heated to a high temperature during discharge. SOLUTION : The discharge lamp is provided with a discharge space 16 in which a filler containing rare gas and metal halide is sealed, an electrode 18 discharging inside the discharge space 16, a hard glass body 14 with translucency covering the discharge space 16 and the electrode 18, a cap 10 to which the hard glass body 14 is attached, and a soft glass body 26 with translucency connected to the cap 10 and covering the hard glass body 14.
