PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a permanent magnet circuit and a magnetic field generating method for giving axisymmetric anisotropy in a substrate plane to a soft magnetic backing layer for perpendicular two layer system magnetic medium used for a soft magnetic object, especially perpendicular magnetic recording, by heat treatment in a magnetic field.
SOLUTION : In a rare earth element permanent magnetic circuit which is hardly demagnetized at high temperature, a plurality of magnet side faces 95 being orthogonal to a magnetic pole plane 94 are arranged keeping a space between them, a magnetic field being almost anti-parallel to magnet magnetization 91 is generated in the space, and an unprocessed sample is inserted. Further, the permanent magnetic circuit to which the unprocessed sample is inserted is carried in a heat treatment furnace, and the unprocessed sample is rotated by request.
