PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To improve the cycle life of an alkaline storage battery, by improving the durability of a hydrogen storage alloy for the alkaline storage battery in a state of maintaining its hydrogen storage capacity at a high level.
SOLUTION : The alkaline storage battery is provided with a positive electrode 1, a negative electrode 2 using the hydrogen storage alloy, and an alkaline electrolytic solution. The battery uses the hydrogen storage alloy for the alkaline storage battery for the negative electrode, which includes at least a rare earth element, nickel and magnesium, and has a nanoscale secondary crystal structure different from a main crystal structure.
