PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a failure determination device of a shift position detection switch for a vehicle, capable of shortening the abnormality determination time, securing the reliability of a failure determination.
SOLUTION : Based on a state that continues having no one output of an output to indicate one side position of P position and N position from a shift range switch 22, and an output to indicate one of a position from a neutral start switch 24 in a predetermined time Tms or more, since a determination time T1 used in an abnormality determination means 46 is shortened to T2 by the determination time shortening means 44 during engine starting, the abnormality determination time is shortened during an engine 10 starting, securing the reliability in the abnormality determination. Because, a driver has a rare chance to move or put a hand on a shift lever 18 during the engine 10 starting.
