The object is to provide use of a polyphenol compound or a rare sugar D-psicose for eradication of a nematode worm. Disclosed is a nematicidal composition comprising a rare sugar D-psicose and/or a derivative thereof as a nematicidal component having a nematode growth-inhibiting effect and/or a natural polyphenol compound contained in a tannin-containing plant (e.g., a tea plant Camellia sinensis) and/or a synthetic polyphenol compound as a nematicidal component having a nematicidal effect and/or a mixture of two or more of these substances, preferably in a total amount of 0.01 to 50% by weight relative to the total amount of the composition. The composition may be in a form selected from the group consisting of a food additive, a food material and a beverage/food. The composition may be used as a human or veterinary pharmaceutical. Also disclosed is a method for eradication of a nematode comprising administering the nematicidal composition. |
