PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a stable close coupled catalyst and a product including the close coupled catalyst.
SOLUTION : This close coupled catalyst comprises a catalyst carrier and a palladium catalyst component. Preferably and optionally, there are stabilizers including alkaline metal oxides, and rare earth metal components selected from neodymium and lanthanum. The close coupled catalyst composition includes substantially no additional oxygen storage component such as praseodymium and cerium. Preferably, there is a catalyst such as a three-way catalyst downstream of the close coupled catalyst. Preferably, such downstream catalyst includes an oxygen storage component such as cerium oxide or praseodymium oxide.
