PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for detecting a point mutation and/or a large-scale alteration in relation to at least one nucleic acid fragment.
SOLUTION : The method comprises the following. A sample liable to contain a first nucleic acid fragment and a second nucleic acid fragment distinguishable from the nucleic acid fragment and acting as a quantitative reference is prepared and the nucleic acid fragments are modified and re-annealed under suitable conditions so as to afford a product containing a homo-duplex and a possible hetero-duplex. Thereby, the intensity of a signal discriminating the existing duplex form of the first nucleic acid fragment is compared with the intensity of a signal obtained from the second reference nucleic acid fragment, etc.
