PURPOSE : An optical fiber manufacturing method for an optical amplifier is provided to secure a favorable loss value by removing a peak of moisture in a wavelength band of 1383±3nm and to utilize cheap optical fibers doped with rare earth metal in a wide application field.CONSTITUTION : A method for manufacturing an optical fiber for an optical amplifier by a VAD(Vapor-Axial Deposition Method) is composed of steps for transparently vitrifying a soot preform for a clad by sintering the soot preform at the proper temperature; boring an air hole through the center of a core unit by cutting an upper end of the effective core of the vitrified soot preform during a process for drawing the vitrified soot preform in the shape of the optical fiber; inserting a rod(3) doped with rare earth metal, into the air hole of a preform(4); and drawing the soot preform as the optical fiber.?
