PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a catalyst for exhaust gas purification, which contains a complex oxide catalyst and a heat resistant carrier, and at the same time, makes a decrease in activity hard to occur even in case of using in high temperatures and an atmosphere high in oxygen concentration.
SOLUTION : The catalyst for exhaust gas purification comprises the complex oxide catalyst containing rare earth elements, alkaline earth elements, and noble metals, in which a part of the rare earth elements and a part of the alkaline earth elements form a complex oxide, and the complex oxide and a part of the noble metals form a solid solution, and the heat resistant carrier supporting the complex oxide catalyst and containing at least one complex oxide selected from the group consisting of a first complex oxide represented by a general formula : AB2O4, a second complex oxide of a perovskite structure represented by a general formula : LMO3, and a third complex oxide of the pyrochlore structure represented by a general formula : X2Y2O7.
