PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a photonic band gap fiber which is enhanced in efficiency by suppressing spontaneous emission light and is especially suitable for optical fiber amplifier, fiber laser, etc.
SOLUTION : The photonic band gap fiber comprises a solid-core linear core doped with rare earth elements and a clad portion which consists of photonic band gap structures, and each of which is a linear hole that extends in parallel with the core portion, and which are arranged in a lattice form around the core portion.
