PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for producing an α, β-epoxyamide, having generality and general purpose properties. SOLUTION : The method for producing an α, β-epoxyamide comprises reacting an unsaturated amide with an oxidizing agent in the presence of an asymmetric catalyst composed of a complex selected from among complexes represented by the general formulas (X is P or As; M is a rare earth metal; R1is an alkoxy group or an alkylperoxy group; R2is a substituted group of a phenyl derivative, a substituted group of a heterocyclic compound or an alkyl group; R3and R4are each a substituted group on an aromatic ring).
