PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an optical amplifier element capable of realizing a smaller optical amplifier and improved integration and gain characteristics. SOLUTION : A conventional optical amplifier element constituted by an optical fiber or on a substrate surface is replaced with an optical amplifier element 1 which comprises a rare-earth-element-added transparent member 2 which, with reflecting films 3 and 4 formed, comprises optical surfaces 2-2 and 2-3 opposed to and parallel to each other. A beam-like light is used as incident light. Thus, the reflection angle at which the beam-like incident light is repeatedly reflected to advance zigzag between the optical surface 2-2 and the optical surface 2-3 of the transparent member 2 is made smaller. |
