PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an optical-fiber optical amplifier using a side-pumping configulation that ensures the low cost, high reliability, and high output operation; and to provide the optical fiber laser apparatus using the same.
SOLUTION : An optical fiber 12 with rare earth elements partially added is wound at least once on the light-reflecting periphery of an inner cylindrical material 11; an external material 13, which reflects light through an inner surface, is provided on the outer peripheries than that of the optical fiber 12 wound on the inner cylindrical material 11; an open section that partially opens is formed on this external material 13; and a pump source for irradiating the excitation light to the optical fiber 12 through the open section, is provided outside of the external material 13.
