PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a light source device and a liquid crystal display device whose light source lamp can be easily installed and replaced, and which allow smaller power loss. SOLUTION : The light source device is equipped with a plurality of straight tube light source lamps, comprising external electrode type rare gas discharge lamps whose both ends are supported, and a reflector. Power supply pins that is continuous with external electrodes are fixed in a situation, protruding in parallel with the light source lamp toward one end of the light source lamp, with a lamp holder installed on the other end of the light source lamp. While the light source lamp is inserted in a lamp inserting hole of a supporting board and the other end of the light source lamp is supported by the lamp inserting hole, the power supply pins are coupled with a power supply socket installed on the support board to accomplish the power supply connection of the light source lamp, and the power source lamp is fixed.
