PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To reduce the temperature dependence of luminance or luminous efficiency. SOLUTION : The fluorescent material has as the constitutional elements at least one element selected from Mg, Ca, Sr and Ba, at least one element selected from Si and Ge, at least one element selected from rare earth elements, and oxygen, and besides has as the crystal structure a pseudowollastonite structure. A film 31 comprised of a fluorescent material and a film 33 containing, as the constitutional element, at least one element selected from Si and Ge are laminated on a substrate 34. The phosphor comprises an adjacent film containing the constitutional element of at least one element selected from Si and Ge and being in contact with a portion composed of the fluorescent material.
