PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a high-capacity alkaline storage battery having a negative electrode containing a rare-earth-Mg-Ni-based hydrogen storage alloy excelling in corrosion resistance against an alkaline electrolyte and having an excellent cycle characteristic. SOLUTION : The composition of the hydrogen storage alloy included in the negative electrode 4 of this alkaline storage battery is represented by general formula : Ln1-αMgαNiβ-γ-δTγAlδ.
