PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide oxide glass, notwithstanding the absence of both Pb and alkali metals, which has characteristics not inferior to those of glass comprising them. SOLUTION : The oxide glass does not substantially comprise Pb and alkali metals, and comprises at least one kind selected from an alkaline-earth metal group composed of Ba, Sr and Ca, Zn, and B. Among the elemental groups excluding oxygen from all constituting elements, provided that the total content of the elements composing network forming oxides is defied as X atomic%, and the total content of the other elements is defined as Y atomic%, the inequality of 1.02≤Y/X≤1.20 is satisfied.
