PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a light emitting device capable of obtaining emission spectra close to natural light, that is, good color rendering properties in a light emitting device using a semiconductor light emitting element and a phosphor. SOLUTION : The light emitting device comprises a semiconductor light emitting element which emits excitation light and a plurality of phosphors which emit fluorescence by absorbing the excitation light. The elements composing the phosphor comprise Si, Al, O, N and lanthanoide rare-earth elements. The light emitting device excellent in color rendering properties is obtained by using a plurality of phosphors different in emission peak wavelengths due to a different ratio of the elements composing the plurality of phosphors.
