PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a catalyst carrier for exhaust gas purification which has high adhesive properties and excellent heat resistance to a substrate made of cordierite, and which has metal oxide nano porous material capable of forming a thin film not only on the surface of the cordielite substrate but also on the micro pore inner wall face.
SOLUTION : In the catalyst carrier for exhaust gas purification which is provided with the metal substrate and the metal oxide nano porous material cover composed of the cordierite substrate and two or more of the metal oxides selected from the group consisting of alumina, zirconia, titania, iron oxide, a rare earth element oxide, an alkali metal oxide and an alkaline earth metal oxide, which are carried on the cordierite substrate, it is characterized in that the nano porous material has nano pores of which the diameter is 10 nm or less and the metal oxide is homogeneously dispersed in the wall material constituting the nano micro pore.
