PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for easily, inexpensively, and efficiently removing harmful inorganic anions, such as phosphate ions, borate ions, fluoride ions, and arsenate ions, from water containing these anions at relatively low concentrations, and a fixing agent used for the method.
SOLUTION : In this removal method, a solution of salts of rare earth elements, containing at least a salt of cerium as a main component, and magnesium hydroxide are added to the water containing the harmful inorganic anions, such as phosphate ions, borate ions, fluoride ions, and arsenate ions, to generate precipitates at a pH of 8-11, and solid-liquid separation is carried out, which can fix the inorganic anions and remove them promptly.
