PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an organic EL element in which directivity of light emission from the organic EL element is enhanced and in which light can be emitted with sharp directivity.
SOLUTION : This is the organic EL element in which between an anode and a cathode, a hole transportation layer is formed on the anode side while an electron transportation layer is formed on the cathode side, and in which a light emitting layer is formed between the hole transportation layer and the electron transportation layer. The light emitting layer is formed by a light emitting material of which the light emitting spectrum width is narrow, a periodical uneven structure is formed on a surface on the cathode side, and a rare earth fluorescent complex can be used as the light emitting material having the narrow light emitting spectrum width.
