A self-watering pot assembly, suitable for use in growing tomatoes and other plants having heavy or pendulous fruit or flowers, that includes an upper open-top container for holding earth, a lower open-top bowl that holds water and is adapted to support the container, and a plant support stand. The bottom of the plant support stand is adapted to fit into a socket formed in the bowl, the socket being aligned with an opening in the bottom of the container. A number of hollow posts may be formed in the bowl, each being aligned with a corresponding aperture in the bottom of the container so that earth from the container can enter each post and act as a wick to draw water from the bowl into the bulk of the earth in the container. Each post supports the bottom of the container in the vicinity of the associated aperture, each post being slotted or perforated to permit entry of water from the bowl. |
