PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a dielectric ceramic composition excellent in temperature characteristics while retaining a high dielectric constant, also particularly excellent in reliability such as breakdown voltage and insulation resistance, and a multilayer ceramic capacitor using the composition.
SOLUTION : This dielectric ceramic composition comprises as subcomponents at least magnesium in terms of MgO of 0.5-2.0 mol and a rare earth metal A (at least one kind selected from Dy, Ho and Y) and a rare earth metal B (at least one kind selected from Yb, Er and Tm) of total in terms of oxides of 2.0-5.0 mol to 100 mol barium titanate as a main component. Further the BET value of the dielectric ceramic composition is 100-150 when the BET value of the raw material powder of the barium titanate as the main component is set as 100.
