PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To cut a rare earth magnet powder compact without clogging by using a wire saw without bad influence of oxygen and carbon.
SOLUTION : In forming raw material alloy powder containing rare earth element and cutting a formed compact 1 in a predetermined shape, cutting is performed using the wire saw 2. In cutting, high pressure gas is injected toward a wire row of the wire saw. As high pressure gas, inert gas such as nitrogen gas is used. The wire saw is a fixed abrasive grain type wire saw. After cutting using the wire saw, cut powder adhering to at least one of cut surfaces of the cut compact is removed.
