PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To stably produce rare earth alloy powder having excellent magnetic properties.
SOLUTION : The production method of the rare earth alloy powder comprises subjecting raw material alloy crude powder to hydrogen absorption treatment, then to pulverization. The raw material alloy crude powder including ≥50mass% coarse particles of ≥2 mm in maximum size is used. Also, the fine powder of ≤250 μm in maximum size is beforehand removed by sieving and the like. Alloy flakes obtained by a strip cast method are used as the raw material alloy crude powder. The hydrogen absorption treatment is performed by using a swinging type furnace.
