PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth magnet exhibiting sufficient corrosion resistance and excellent heat resistance, and to provide its production process.
SOLUTION : The rare earth magnet 1 comprises a magnet element 3, and a protective layer 5 covering the surface of the magnet element 3. The protective layer 5 comprises a first layer 6 containing a rare earth element and covering the magnet element 3, a second layer 7 having a content of rare earth element lower than that of the first layer 6 and covering the first layer 6, and a metal salt layer 8 covering the second layer 7.
