PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a fiber laser which can oscillate a high output laser beam. SOLUTION : The fiber laser includes a main laser fiber 32, a single or more pumping fibers 35 connected to the main fiber 32 through couplers 36 in a longitudinal direction of the fiber 32, amplifying pump light sources 37 for directing amplifying pump light to the pumping fibers 35, and a main pump light source 31 for directing main pump light from an incoming end of the main fiber 32 into the fiber 32. The main fiber 32 has a core added with a rare earth element, a larger diameter cladding layer surrounding the core, and a coating layer provided on the larger diameter cladding layer. The pumping fiber 35 forms a fiber laser which has the core and the coating layer formed thereon. |
