简介 The strength of a compacted body is enhanced without deteriorating the magnetic properties. Additive metal powder is added to raw alloy containing a rare earth element, a transition metal element and boron to obtain a mixture, the mixture is compacted to obtain a compacted body, and the compacted body is sintered to obtain a rare earth sintered magnet. The additive metal powder is at least one species selected from the group consisting of powders of Al, Ni, Zr, Mn, Fe, Co, Cu, Zn, Ag, Sn and Bi. When adopting a process of crushing the raw alloy and a process of pulverizing the crushed raw alloy, the additive metal powder is added after the crushing process or after the pulverizing process. The amount of the additive metal powder added is 0.01 mass % or more. The additive metal powder is preferred to be platy metal alloy and, in this case, the thickness thereof is set to be 10 μm or less.
