PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth magnet which has a sufficient corrosion resistance and has an excellent thermal resistance, and to provide a method of manufacturing it.
SOLUTION : The rare earth magnet 1 includes a magnet element assembly 3, and a protective layer 5 which covers the front surface of the magnet element assembly 3. The protective layer 5 has a first layer 6 which covers the magnet element assembly 3 and contains rare earth elements, a second layer 7 which covers the first layer and does not contain the rare earth elements substantially, and an oxide layer 8 which covers the second layer and has an oxide layer 8 having a distinct composition with the first and second layers.
