PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a solid oxidation catalyst for combustion having excellent durability causing no peeling even in a case that a high flow rate gas is oxidized.
SOLUTION : The solid oxidation catalyst for combustion is constituted by supporting an active component which contains at least one element and/or one compound selected from Group VIII metal elements and Group VIII metal oxides, or a mixture of the above active component and a rare earth metal oxide, on a monolithically molded honeycomb carrier which contains alumina or a monolithically molded honeycomb carrier, which contains a composite oxide of at least one selected from the oxides of zirconia, magnesia, silica and a rare earth metal and alumina, so as to become a volume of 2% or more with respect to the pore volume of the honeycomb carrier.
