PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an optical fiber laser whose excitation light source is not damaged, and to provide an optical fiber amplifier.
SOLUTION : The optical fiber laser has at least a rare earth added optical fiber which is a gain medium, an excitation light source which optically excites the rare earth added optical fiber, and a photocoupler; and carries out laser oscillation by injecting excitation light emitted from the excitation light source to the rare earth added optical fiber via the photocoupler. The optical fiber laser is provided with at least one light shielding means for shielding light injected to the excitation light source from the rare earth added optical fiber via the photocoupler, in a projection end of the excitation light source.
