The combined motor and alternator includes a rotor held between front and rear bearing supports (14). A magnetic device for following the shaft rotation comprises a sensor (52) and a magnetic target (50) carried on a part of the fan (44). The polyphase electric motor and alternator for a motor vehicle comprises a shaft carrying a rotor with magnetic poles surrounded by a stator comprising polyphase windings within a hollow casing. The rotor is held between front and rear bearing supports (14) with bearings (12) in contact with the shaft. A magnetic device for following the shaft rotation comprises a sensor (52) associated with a target (50). The target is fixed on a target carrier (60) on a part of the fan (44). This is fixed to the rotor so that it is positioned axially between the rotor and one of the bearings. The target carrier may have an annular shape, whilst the target itself may be crenellated. The target may be made from ferrite or rare earth material. |
