PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare-earth magnet having sufficient corrosion resistance, and to provide its manufacturing method.
SOLUTION : In the method for manufacturing the rare-earth magnet, a magnet base body containing a rare-earth element is thermally processed to form a protective layer on the surface of the magnet base body. The magnet base body is thermally processed so that the protective layer comprises a first layer covering the magnet base body and containing the rare-earth element and a second layer covering the first layer and substantially not containing the rare earth element, while any one of the following conditions of oxide gas partial pressure, processing temperature and processing time in an oxide atmosphere containing the oxide gas is adjusted.
