PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To realize a remote transmission system for excitation light with small characteristic difference in both of incoming and outgoing directions and which is suitable for long distance transmission. SOLUTION : In the remote transmission system for excitation light an excitation light source that generates excitation light for exciting a first rare earth added optical fiber is provided in a first terminal station device to be opposedly connected via an optical fiber transmission line and an excitation light source that generates excitation light for exciting a second rare earth added optical fiber is provided in a second terminal station device. The system is constituted so that difference between a length L1 of an optical fiber for connecting the first terminal station device with the first rare earth added optical fiber and a length L2 of an optical fiber for connecting the second terminal station device with the second rare earth added optical fiber is set in the range of zero to a prescribed value (a) (|L1-L2|<(a)) and the L1 and the L2 the maximum transmission distance of which become equal to or more than a prescribed value when the respective rare earth added optical fibers are actuated as remote excitation preamplifiers according to the transmitting direction are set. |
