PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for producing a rare earth alloy in which the main constituting phase is a tetragonal Nd2Fe14B compound phase by a molten salt electrolytic technique.
SOLUTION : The production method includes : a step (a) where an Fe-B alloy 5 is prepared; and a step (b) where, using the Fe-B alloy 5 as the material to be treated, electrolysis is performed in an Nd ion-containing molten salt, thus a rare earth alloy 6 in which the main constituting phase is a tetragonal Nd2Fe14B compound phase is formed at least on a part of the surface in the material to be treated.
