PURPOSE : A clad optical fiber laser using a couple of long period optical fiber gratings is provided to generate laser light with high efficiency and output by using a clad as an amplifying medium.CONSTITUTION : An optical fiber(10) includes a core, a clad, and a couple of long period optical fiber gratings. A rare-earth material is inserted into the inside of the clad. The clad wraps the core to have the same center with the core. The couple of long period optical fiber gratings are arranged in series to be formed on the core for combining a core mode with a cladding mode at a predetermined wavelength which satisfies a phase matching condition between the core mode and the cladding mode. A pumping optical source(20) is optically combined with the clad to illuminate the pump light to the clad. A reflective mirror is arranged on an outer side of a couple of long period optical fiber gratings for resonating signal light.? KIPO 2006 |
