PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a dielectric ceramic composition which can be fired in reducing atmosphere at ≤1, 180°C, is ≥2, 400 in specific dielectric constant, satisfies X5R characteristics and is long in accelerated life, and a ceramic capacitor.
SOLUTION : The dielectric ceramic composition is a sintered compact containing oxides of Ba, Ca and Ti as principal components and an oxide of Re (Re is at least one or more kinds of rare earth elements selected from the group consisting of Y, Dy, Sm, Yb, and Ho) and an oxide of Mg, as auxiliary components. The principal components are a compound expressed by a composition formula (Ba1-xCax)TiO3 (x : 0 to 0.10, (Ba1-xCax)/Ti ratio : 1.005 to 1.030), contain 0.5 to 3.0 pts.mol Re oxide in terms of Re and 0.5 to 3.0 pts.mol Mg oxide in terms of Mg at these ratios per 100 pts.mol of the compound, and further contain a sintering assistant at a ratio of 0.2 to 1.0 pt.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the compound.
