Disclosed is a highly active heat-resistant oxide having excellent heat resistance and high-temperature durability. Specifically, a heat-resistant oxide having an oxide crystal structure wherein the rate of noble metal solid-solved in the oxide crystal structure is not less than 50% can be obtained by performing a heat treatment (secondary firing) on a precursor composition, which is composed of at least one coordinating element selected from the group consisting of zirconia, rare earth elements, alkaline earth elements, aluminum and silicon, and at least one noble metal selected from the group consisting of platinum, rhodium and palladium, at 650˚C or higher temperature. |
