PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a production method excellent in productivity of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) porous film increased in radiation resistance.
SOLUTION : The method comprises preparing a PTFE sheet, irradiating the PTFE sheet with radiation substantially in the absence of oxygen in an atmosphere at 340±20°C, and drawing the PTFE sheet, as it is, in at least one axial direction. Thereby, in one step, crosslinked bond is generated in the PTFE by radiation exposure and the porous structure is formed by drawing. Therefore, the PTFE porous film suppressed in degradation of mechanical strength, which degradation is caused by re-irradiation with radiation, is produced with an excellent productivity.
