PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a catalytic substance for cleaning exhaust gas, which exhibits an excellent cleaning function of removing all of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides and the cleaning function of which is not deteriorated so much even when the catalytic substance is used continuously and to provide an exhaust gas cleaning apparatus comprising the catalytic substance.
SOLUTION : This catalytic substance for cleaning exhaust gas is obtained by depositing the powder, which consists of a mixture of oxides of an alkali metal, an alkaline-earth metal and a transition metal or an eutectic mixture of a part or the whole of the oxides of the alkali metal, the alkaline-earth metal and the transition metal, on the surface of a filter base material consisting of γ-alumina or y-zeolite. This exhaust gas cleaning apparatus comprises the catalytic substance fixed on a metallic carrier having exhaust gas-passable pores, exhibits the efficient cleaning function of removing all of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides and continues the cleaning function.
