PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a protecting film for a plasm display panel with a high sputtering resistance and a long life, its forming method as well as a plasma display panel.
SOLUTION : The protecting film for a plasma display panel is such that a film protects a dielectric layer 5 on a transparent front surface plate 1 used for the plasma display panel. The protecting film 11 is structured by a secondary electron emission layer 12 made of a material with a high ratio of secondary electron emission containing magnesium oxide or fluorides of alkaline earth metal, and a protecting layer 13 formed on the secondary electron emission layer 12 with good sputtering resistance containing oxide of a rare earth element.
