PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a novel optical fiber for fiber lasers which realizes a high-power fiber laser and has two functions as a power supply line for guiding a light source and as a transmission line for guiding a laser light.
SOLUTION : The optical fiber 1 for fiber lasers comprises a hollow core region 11, an inside clad region 15 extending in the length of the fiber 1 with a plurality of air holes 12 surrounding the hollow core region 11, and an outside clad region 14 for enclosing the inside clad region 15. The solid part 13 of the inside clad region 15 is made of a quartz material containing a rare earth element added partly or entirely, and the outside clad region 14 has a refractive index lower than that of the solid part 13 of the inside clad region 15.
