PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a simple method for producing the IV group transition metal and rare earth metal grains, and to provide a low temperature production method capable of forming the IV group transition metal and rare earth metal film on a base material having low heat resistance such as plastics.
SOLUTION : The IV group transition metal and rare earth metal grains are produced through : a stage (1) where a reducing agent is added to a water-hydrophobic organic solvent two layer solution comprising the IV group transition metal salt and rare earth metal salt, a phase transfer catalyst and a surfactant; a stage (2) where the water layer is removed; and a stage (3) where a hydrophilic organic solvent is added to the hydrophobic organic solvent, and the IV group transition metal and rare earth metal grains are precipitated/separated. Further a IV group transition metal and rare earth metal grain-containing coating liquid is film-formed on a substrate, and thereafter, heating treatment and ultraviolet light irradiation are performed, so as to form the IV group transition metal and rare earth metal film at ≤200°C.
