PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a new rare earth element monocarboxylate alcohol adduct useful as a raw material for producing rare earth element oxides and rare earth element-containing composite oxides.
SOLUTION : This rare earth element monocarboxylate alkoxyalcohol adduct represented by the general formula (I) : M(R2-COO)3×(R1O(CH2)nOH)p [M is a rare earth element selected from the group consisting of Pr, Nd, Pm, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb and Lu; R1 is a 1 to 4C aliphatic hydrocarbon group or a 3 to 6C substituted aliphatic hydrocarbon group; R2 is H or a 1 to 4C substituted or unsubstituted aliphatic hydrocarbon group; (n) is 2 or 3; (p) is a numerical value in a range of 0.5 to 3].
