PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To efficiently perform exhaust gas cleaning regardless of an exhaust gas temperature when an oxygen sucking/releasing material is used in exhaust gas cleaning.
SOLUTION : The catalyst for cleaning the exhaust gas is used, which is provided with an active component comprising at least one kind of metal of noble metal and transition metal; an NOx occulusion material for sucking/releasing a nitrogen oxide according to a peripheral concentration of nitrogen oxide; and a compound represented by A2O2SO4 and/or A2O2S (A is rare earth element).
