PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a glow discharge lamp using the best material as an electron emission substance film such as zinc as well, easily manufacturable without changing a process or the like from a conventional one, and improved in a starting characteristic in a dark place condition by reducing a time required for lighting it.
SOLUTION : This glow starter G1 is provided with : a discharge vessel 1; a pair of electrodes 2 and 3 enclosed in the discharge vessel 1, wherein at least one of them is a movable electrode 32 displaced by heat generated by glow discharge to allow the electrodes to contact to each other; an electron emission substance film 4 disposed in the discharge vessel 1; and a rare gas enclosed in the discharge vessel 1 with a pressure of 3, 990-6, 650 Pa and containing neon-xenon as a main constituent. This luminaire is composed by using the glow starter G1.
