PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for efficiently removing a lubricant, and further, to provide a method for producing a rare earth sintered magnet in which magnetic properties are satisfactory, and also, deformation is suppressed since the content of residual carbon is low.
SOLUTION : The method for producing the rare earth sintered magnet includes : a stage where a composition comprising a lubricant using an organic matter as a constituent and alloy powder having a prescribed composition is compacted in a magnetic field so as to obtain a compact; and a stage where the compact is subjected to heat treatment under an atmospheric gas containing H2O and H2 so as to remove the lubricant. Regarding the stage for sintering the compact, it is desirable that the compact is subjected to the heat treatment under the atmospheric gas containing H2O and H2 in the process where its temperature is raised to a prescribed sintering temperature.
